How To Clear A Clogged Toilet Without A Plunger

When your toilet gets clogged, it can cause a lot of frustration. It can also bring out strong odors. The first thing you are likely to reach for is a plunger. Plungers can be very effective at solving the problem of clogged toilets. However, you may not know what to do if you don't have a plunger on hand. Take a look at the alternatives to using a plunger to clear your toilet.

Try Heat

When you notice that your toilet has been clogged, you can quickly fill a pan with water and heat it on the stove. Whenever the water starts to boil, it is ready for use. Pour the water down the drain and let it sit there for a few minutes. This should be all you need to loosen the clog a little bit, if not entirely.

Use Dish Soap

Another alternative you can try is to use some dish soap from the kitchen. All you need to do is squeeze a good amount into the toilet. Let it sit for at least ten minutes. The next step is to pour some hot water down the toilet. The soap is likely to act as a lubricant. This will grease the clog in the toilet to get it moving.

Make Some Fizz

If the water in the toilet is already up to the brim, you'll need to take out some of the water. The next step is to pour some vinegar and a cup of baking soda into the toilet. This will produce a chemical reaction. It will bubble up and loosen the clog. After half an hour has passed, pour some hot water down the toilet to see if moves the clog. If the clog is not removed, then try the process again to see if it will work.

Use a Brush

The toilet brush can serve as a plunger, especially if it has a pointy shape. Make sure that you put the brush down the drain. Pump up and down as you would with a plunger and this may loosen the clog and eventually, the toilet will begin to drain.
